The crime maps on these pages reflect incidents that have been reported since Jan. 1, 2008, in three basic categories: Violent crime (homicide, armed robbery, assault w/ a dangerous weapon, shots fired), Break-ins (cars and homes), Drug crimes (possession with intent to distribute cocaine, marijuana, heroin and other drugs).
The information used to build these crime maps is compiled by Standard-Times reporters based on information gathered from the New Bedford Police Department.
In that process, some duplications or omissions may occur.
These maps do not represent an official count by local authorities, but can be a useful tool in tracking crime trends across the city.
