    EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Angelina (Albino) Lemos, 90, of Somerset, Mass., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Edmund Place Health Center, after a long illness. She was the widow of John F. Lemos; he died June 8, 1999.
    Born in Pawtucket, R.I., daughter of the late Manuel and Antonette (Cordeiro) Albino, she lived in New Bedford, Mass., many years and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
    She had been a cloth spinner at Fisk Mill in New Bedford.
    Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Viveiros of Somerset.
    Her funeral service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St.

    NEW BEDFORD -- Jacinto "Jesse" Amaral, 86, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Rose (Raposo) Amaral; they were married 59 years.
    Born in Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Azores, son of the late Jose and Maria Dos Santos Amaral, he lived in New Bedford for 50 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
    Mr. Amaral was employed by Aerovox in the maintenance department, initially retiring and later resuming his job on a part-time basis.
    He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Ashley Park Senior Center. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
    Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Cecelia F. "Ce Ce" Gonzaga and Mary E. Levesque, both of New Bedford; a sister, Evelyn Torti of Italy; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    His funeral will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.
    Arrangements are by the Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home, 129 Allen St.

    Arthur Clement


    FALL RIVER -- Arthur Clement, 77, of President Village, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Lucille D. (Carrier) Clement.
    Born in Fall River, son of the late Alfonse and Emma (Prattapoire) Clement, he lived in Fall River most of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Church.
    Mr. Clement was a Fall River firefighter for 23½ years at the central station before retiring.
    He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving during World War II.
    Survivors include his widow; a son, Paul A. Clement of Denver; two brothers, Leo Clement of Somerset and Norman Clement of Fall River; five sisters, Rita Petrosso of Swansea, Germaine Sabitino of Connecticut, Flora McClendon of Oregon, Irene Fortin of Fall River and Claire Bouchard of California; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Church, North Main Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
    Arrangements are by the Oliveira Funeral Home, 2064 S. Main St.

    Joseph E. Tomasik

    FALL RIVER -- Joseph E. Tomasik, 81, of New Bedford died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Rose Hawthorne Lathrop Home. He was the widower of Margaret (Molloy) Tomasik.
    Born in New Bedford, son of the late Joseph E. and Aniela "Nellie" (Gondek) Tomasik, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and communicant of St. Anne Church.
    Mr. Tomasik was a grinder at Morse Twist Drill Corp. for many years until retiring. He was a Navy veteran, torpedoman's mate second class, during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 1.
    He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed planting a vegetable garden every year, supplying his neighbors with tomatoes each harvest.
    Survivors include a sister, Adele Dionne of California; a niece, Susan (Dionne) Headen of Maryland; and a dear friend, Raymond Kobza of Fairhaven.
    His funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465 County St., New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Anne Church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

    Albert J. Monteiro

    PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Albert J. Monteiro, 68, formerly of Wareham, Mass., died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, after a battle with cancer. He was the husband of Irene (Gill) Monteiro; they were married 51 years.
    Born in Wareham, he was a 1949 graduate of Wareham High School. He spent 30 years in the Navy, serving aboard the USS Conway for 30 months. He made a world cruise in 1951, served six months in Korea and received the UN Ribbon, Korean China Service, with two stars, Occupation (Japan) and Good Conduct ribbons.
    He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 12 years and volunteered for Baptist Hospital and Mann Food Bank. He was a member of St. Cyprians Episcopal Church.
    He belonged to Five Flags Amateur Radio Association, Mars, Navy, Marine Corps, Military Radio System. He was a lifelong honorable member, past president and treasurer of Pensacola Volks March (Walking) Club.
    Survivors include his widow; a son, Terrence Monteiro; two daughters, Donna D. Monteiro and Cathy (Coli) Organt; two sisters, Pauline Pina and her husband, Donald, and Mabel Rose and her husband, Joseph; a sister-in-law, Dorene Wilson; a niece, Harriet Evan; and four grandchildren.
    He was the father of the late Sebert Joseph Monteiro.
    Arrangements were by the Joe Morris Chapel Funeral Home, Pensacola.
    Burial was in Holy Cross Mausoleum.

    Winifred M. Andrews Baldwin, 92


    NEW BEDFORD -- Winifred M. Andrews Baldwin, 92, of Main Street, Fairhaven, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the widow of Ernest H. Baldwin, the former owner and operator of Ernest H. Baldwin Painting & Decorating, Fairhaven.
    Born in Fairhaven, daughter of the late Arthur D. and Winifred C. (Brown) Padelford, she was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Bedford.
    Mrs. Baldwin was an inspector for Aerovox in New Bedford for more than 25 years. She previously was an inspector for several years with the former Atlas Tack, Fairhaven.
    She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting and bingo.
    Survivors include a son, Frank P. Andrews of Rochester; a daughter, Elaine E. Harms of Stuart, Fla., and Reading, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Smith of Fairhaven; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was the sister of the late Frederick A. Padelford, Robert Padelford, Sarah Hadfield and Helen Briggs.
    Her graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
    Arrangements are with the Fairlawn Mortuary of Sullivan-Waring, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven.

    Sandra L. Lowney

    TIJUANA, Mexico -- Sandra Lynn (Santos) Lowney, 39, of South Dartmouth, Mass., died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Hospital Oasis after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Timothy P. Lowney.
    Born in New Bedford, daughter of Manuel and Ruth (Mills) Santos of Dartmouth, she lived in Dartmouth most of her life. She was a member of Crossroads Bible Chapel, where she also taught Sunday School.
    Mrs. Lowney was employed by Truesdale Hospital, pulmonary care unit, in Fall River, Mass., until her illness.
    Her greatest joys in life were her Lord, her husband and her family.
    Survivors include her widower; two sisters, Donna Gonsalves and Sheryl Getchell, both of Dartmouth; three brothers, Stephen Santos of New Bedford, Mass., and Matthew Santos and John Santos, both of Dartmouth; several beloved nieces and nephews, Elyse, Christa and Caleb Gonsalves, Audrey, Jared and Amy Santos and Lyndsey Getchell, all of Dartmouth and Jacob, Nicholas, Ethan and Sarah Santos, all of New Bedford; a grandmother, Isabel Sokoll of Darmouth; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
    Her funeral service will be at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.

    William C. Jalbert


    FALL RIVER -- William C. Jalbert, 76, of Sanford Road, Westport, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, after a long illness. He was the husband of Doris R. (Laferriere) Jalbert; they were married 52 years.
    Born in Fall River, the son of the late William and Gladys (Maynard) Jalbert, he lived in Westport for the past 49 years.
    A communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Mr. Jalbert was a custodian with the Westport School Department until his retirement. He also worked at Firestone in Fall River for 30 years.
    A Navy veteran of World War II, he was an honorary member of the Watuppa Boat Club, Westport.
    Survivors include his widow; a son, William R. Jalbert of Westport; a daughter, Elaine Wood of Dartmouth; a brother, Francis A. Jalbert of Baltimore; four grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
    His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.
    Interment will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
    Arrangements are by Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.

    Ruth Baldwin


    SWANTON, Vt. -- Ruth (Stafford) Baldwin, 72, of Howard Street, died at home, Monday, Oct. 25, 1999. She was the wife of Kenneth Baldwin; they were married 51 years.
    Born in Attleboro, Mass., daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Jane (Monahan) Stafford, she graduated from Attleboro High School. She was a longtime summer resident of Onset, Mass.
    An active member of the Swanton community, she was a devoted and faithful member of the Memorial United Methodist Church. She served her church for many years as a trustee and member of the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to the Swanton Chapter of the Kings Daughters and Sons, Chapter 11 of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Martha; a charter member of the Swanton Historical Society and was on the board of the Onset Creative Arts Association.
    Survivors include her widower; two daughters, Pam Petrini and her husband, Jim, of Richland, N.J., and Priscilla Taylor and her husband, Gary, of Swanton; five grandchildren, Kristy, Kevin and Karl Taylor of Swanton and Andi and Lea Petrini of Richland; a brother-in-law, Fred Phillips of Norton, Mass.; and a niece and two nephews.
    She was the mother of the late Patti Baldwin and sister of the late Jane Ann Phillips.
    A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Memorial United Methodist Church, Grand Avenue, Swanton. Arrangements are under the Kidder Memorial Home, submitted by the Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham, Mass.

    Mario D. Maura


    NEW BEDFORD -- Mario Dias Maura, 86, died at home Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Deloures (Souza) Maura.
    Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the son of the late Augustino and Anna (Dias) Maura, he moved to New Bedford with his mother at the age of 2 after the sudden death of his father. Family and friends helped to support Mr. Maura and his mother while he was growing up.
    A communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, he was second in his class at Normandin Junior High School. He had to leave school before graduation to help support his mother, later completing his high school education at the age of 65.
    Mr. Maura met and married the love of his life, Deloures, in 1941; they were married for 58 years.
    Like his wife, he loved his family and was a dedicated father and husband all of his life.
    During World War II, he was employed at the torpedo station at the Newport Naval Base.
    Later, he was an auto parts manager at Smith's Motors and Howard Truck Center for several years until his retirement.
    For 60 years, Mr. Maura was also an inspector and warden for the Election Commission.
    He was the oldest living member of the Portuguese Alliance.
    Survivors include two sons, Mario D. Maura Jr. of South Dartmouth and Paul Maura of Costa Mesa, Calif.; six daughters, Carol Vasconcellos, Kathy Bonas and Coreen Sullivan, all of New Bedford, Mary Witkowicz of Fairhaven, Lynn Lombard of Marion and Carleen Lentini of Rhode Island; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a niece.
    His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
    Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home, 495 Park St.
