    EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Esther (de Campos) Lopes, 98, of East Hartford, died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Manuel Lopes and the daughter of the late Julio and Maria de Campos.
    Born in Portugal, Mrs. Lopes came to New Bedford, when she was 15 years old. She lived there until she moved to East Hartford 15 years ago.
    While living in New Bedford she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church and was employed at various mills as a stitcher.
    Survivors include a daughter, Alice Pires of East Hartford; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
    Arrangements are by the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.

    Francis M. Murphy


    WAREHAM -- Francis M. (Baldwin) Murphy, 81, died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Francis D. Murphy of Parkwood Drive.
    Born in Reading, she lived in Boston until moving to Wareham 21 years ago. She was past predident of the State and Post 1 of Boston Amvets Auxiliary, and past president of the Wareham Emblem Club No. 99.
    Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth A. Morrison of Wareham and Catherine M. Briggs of Lombard, IL.; a son, David W. Murphy of Quincy; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Arrangements are by the Stott, Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranbery Highway (Rt. 28) Wareham.

    Elvira Almeida, 93


    NEW BEDFORD -- Private funeral services were held yesterday for Elvira (Costa) Almeida, 93, of New Bedford, who died Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of the late Frank Almeida and the daughter of the late Jacinto and Maria Pacheco (Rapoza) Costa.
    She was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, and lived in this area most of her life.
    She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was formerly employed by the Gosnold Mill as a weaver.
    Survivors include her husband; a son, Leonard Almeida of New Bedford; two daughters, Zulmira and Elvira Almeida, both of New Bedford; a sister, Joanna De Sousa of New Bedford, two grandchildren; two great grandchildren, one great- great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
    Arrangements were by the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford.

    Dorothy M. Loonie


    WAREHAM -- Dorothy M. Loonie, 75, of Onset, died Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, after a brief illness.
    She was the wife of Charles H. Loonie and daughter of the late William and Matilda (Manning) McEwan.
    Mrs. Loonie died at Tobey Hospital.
    She was born in Norwood and lived in Walpole until moving to Onset 15 years ago.
    She worked for 26 years at the Walpole Co-Operative Bank until her retirement in 1981.
    She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Onset.
    Survivors, besides her widower, include two cousins, Emily Firth of Norwood and Ann DeYoung of Walpole and several nieces and nephews.
    Arrangements are by the Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham.

    David S. Koffman


    TAMPA, Fla. -- David S. Koffman, 87, of Pinellas Park, Fla., died Nov. 25 at Menorah Manor Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Wright) Koffman.
    Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Louis and Pauline (Schwarz) Koffman, he lived in the city until moving to Florida eight years ago.
    Mr. Koffman was a manager in a textile factory. He was a grand master of the New Bedford Masonic Lodge.
    He was also a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.
    Survivors include a son, Michael Koffman of South Natick; a brother, Morris Koffman of California; a sister, Hazel Chalal of New York City and three grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Paul Koffman.
    Arrangements are by Max Sugarman Memorial Chapel, Providence.

    Jose A. de Oliveira Meneses


    NEW BEDFORD -- Jose Adriano deOliveira Meneses, 36, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 1996, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
    He died at St. Luke's Hospital.
    Mr. Meneses was the husband of Maria G. (Carreiro) Meneses and son of Luisa (deOliveira) Meneses of Terceira, Azores, and the late Mateus O. Meneses.
    He was born in Agualva, Terceira, Azores, and lived in this city for 15 years.
    He was a communicant of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church and was employed as a laborer by local landscaping companies.
    Survivors, beside his widow and mother, include three sons, Stephen J. Meneses, Kevin J. Meneses and Mathew J. Meneses, all of New Bedford; two brothers, Mateus and Ivo Meneses, both of Terceira; seven sisters, Fatima, Deolinda, Regina, Inez, Manuela, Alda and Irene Meneses, all of Terceira; and several nieces and nephews.
    Arrangements are by Cabral-Baylies Square Funeral Home, 512 No. Front St., New Bedford.

    Domingos Martins


    NEW BEDFORD -- Domingos Martins, 81, of New Bedford, died unexpectedly, Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the widower of Gloria (Gonsalves) Martins and son of the late Alvaro and Antonia (Fernandes) Martins.
    Born in Covas de Barroso, Boticas, Tras os Montes, Portugal, Mr. Martins lived in New Bedford for 35 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.
    Mr. Martins was formerly employed by the Essex Construction Co. as a laborer.
    Survivors include six sons, Antonio Martins and Paulo Martins, both of New Bedford, Abilio Martins of Acushnet, Walter Martins of Rochester, Joaquim Martins of Virginia and Miguel Martins of Dartmouth; three daughters, Bertilia Arribada of Portugal, Idalina Martinho and Belinda Affonso, both of Fairhaven; a sister, Albina of Portugal; 21 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Joao Martins.
    Arrangements are by the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.

    Lawrence H. Mercier


    NEW BEDFORD -- Lawrence H. Mercier, 79, formerly of Westport, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 1996 at the Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility in New Bedford after a lengthy illness.
    He was the widower of Alice D. (Sirois) Mercier of Hobart Street, Westport and son of the late Joseph and Cordelia (Cote) Mercier. Born in Fall River, he was resident of Westport since 1976.
    A knitting mechanic for the Bristol Knitting Mills in Fall River for many years until his retirement, he was a communicant of St. George Church.
    He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Carol Mercier of Westport; and two granddaughters, Allison Mercier of Swansea and Michelle Mercier Raposa of Fall River.
    Arrangements are by the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport.
